Cafeteria Re-design for a Downtown Software Company

Before

Style:Nondescript Modern
Client’s Dislikes:Overall the place lacked personality & any sort of “pop”
The space was uninspiring and bland
Staircase/Railing was a bad design in the 70’s when it was installed!

Client’s Likes:

Modern flying saucer lights

Furniture

Floor finishes

Goal:Re-design the area to bring out the creative personalities of both the
company and its employees.

After

To Do List:

Design, fabricate and install a new staircase using reclaimed wood and steel

Painted the ceiling dark to show off the flying saucer lights

Added random Moooi lights above the staircase to further define the space and to complement the existing lights.

Designed and installed a custom Brick and Concrete wallpaper for the walls/columns along the windows to give the space an old loft feel.

Painted the windows dark to complement the wallpaper and staircase

Removed the large obtrusive TV stand at the top of the stairs.

Result:A very cool rustic/modern space with a playful and engaging feel that resonates with the company’s creative vibe.
