Aspen Interior Design Mountain Modern Project by Runa Novak
Aspen, Colorado, is a stunning part of the world. In Your Space Interior Design firm is one of Aspen’s top interior design companies and as you might expect given the beautiful Rocky Mountain resort location, Aspen interior design often involves working on projects with an outdoor theme.
Back to Nature
Runa Novak is a top interior designer. She is familiar with the challenges of creating a modern living environment that successfully incorporates elements from the natural environment beyond the four walls of the client’s home. She likes nothing more than to take the best that nature has to offer and work with it to create functional and innovative design elements that are sympathetic to the natural environment. When it comes to Aspen interior design, well designed interior spaces that bring nature in, are a must.
A Multi-million Dollar Interior Renovation in Aspen, Colorado
One of Runa Novak’s favorite and most stunning design projects was a slope side ski in/ski out three million dollar renovation in Aspen, Colorado. The house was originally constructed in the 1980s and no improvements had been made to it since then, so it was long overdue an interior design update.
The Aspeninterior design and renovation project involved a total design/build remodel of the entire house, plus the addition of a new patio and courtyard with heated floors. The original house consisted of a great room, family room, dining room and kitchen on the main floor, with a master suite on the second floor. On the lower floor there were four bedrooms, four bathrooms, reception room, kid’s secret hiding room, a swimming pool and ski an in/out mudroom.
Key Elements of the Aspen Interior Design
Following extensive consultation with the clients, Runa Novak decided on a Mountain Modern Aspen interior design theme that stressed clean lines throughout the house and added texture using natural elements from the Great Outdoors and nature, such as stone and wood.
All of the windows on the main and the 2nd floors were replaced with floor length Weiland brand sliding doors so the outside could really be enjoyed from the inside of the house. Every room in the house has a slope side view, so Runa felt that it was very important to make the most of such a wonderful asset. The swimming pool was turned into an indoor/outdoor pool with Nana collapsible doors that opened out on to a court yard. This leads to the outdoor patio with an extra-large hot tub. It’s literally on the ski slopes so you can see skiers while you are enjoying some après ski rest and relaxation. This Aspen interior design was as much about the interior spaces as it was about the exterior ones.
Other key elements of the interior design project included:
A floating deck was also added to the master suite so the bedroom now has two decks
The Master bathroom was expanded to accommodate a large walk-in closet
A giant fireplace was built between the great room and the family room. It can be enjoyed from both sides
The kitchen now has state-of-the-art Thermador appliances and modern chrome and solid maple painted kitchen cabinets by Christopher Peacock
The secret room for kids has two televisions and a PlayStation with colorful fun bean bags and furniture so they have their own comfortable space in the house
As you can see from the photographs of the completed project, the end result is a perfect juxtaposition of contemporary living and natural beauty.
