This Chicago-based software company contracted with Runa Novak for Chicago office interior design services. The goal was to re-design the space to make it more engaging for the employees.
Overall the Chicago interior lacked personality and any sort of “pop”
The cafeteria space was uninspiring and bland
The staircase/railing was a bad design in the 70’s when it was installed and it hasn’t improved with time
Runa designed, fabricated and installed a new staircase using reclaimed wood and steel
The ceiling was painted in a dark color to show off the flying saucer lights
Runa added random Moooi lights above the staircase to further define the space and to complement the existing lights.
She designed and installed a custom brick and concrete wallpaper for the walls/columns along the windows to give the space an old loft feel.
The windows were painted dark to complement the wallpaper and staircase
The large obtrusive TV stand at the top of the stairs was removed

The end result was a very cool rustic/modern space with a playful and engaging feel that resonated with the company’s creative vibe. It is a great example of how well good interior design services can work in the commercial sector as well as in residential projects.
