Custom Wine Rooms for Wine Collectors – Designed by Runa Novak

Wine rooms with regular furniture are becoming less and less popular in modern homes because they are often too cold and uncomfortable and people don’t want to spend much time in them. Wine collectors prefer to look at their precious wine collection in comfort, so top 10 designer Runa Novak from In Your Space interior design firm came up with an innovative solution for a client with a large wine collection – custom wine rooms that are attractive stand-alone focal points.

Runa decided to make the wine room visible from the kitchen and the Great Room, just as you would see wines displayed in restaurants. Extra storage space was needed, so a small section of the master closet was used, but as it was 3’ off the ground, a miniature library ladder was constructed.

Key Features of the Custom Wine Room

Wine racks made of warm wood to show off the bottles whether they are red or white. 

Stainless steel bars were chosen for a more modern look and also to catch light and make the bottles sparkle. 

During the remodel there was an extra ceiling beam from the Family Room, so Runa used this as a threshold for the opening of the wine storage room and also to attach the library ladder

A library ladder inspired the wine room ladder – it has extra hooks so it can be hung off the floor
