Family rooms are often used for many different things, which is why the layout needs to be well thought out. The original family room in this project was anything but well thought out, which is why the client looked into interior design Denver CO and chose Runa Novakand her firm In Your Spaceto take on the task of creating a stunning new family space.
The family room was dark and closed up and even though it was a good size space, it looked and felt cramped
The windows had many mullions and looked ‘busy’
The overall look of the room was cluttered
The room had been decorated with ugly earth tone paint colors
The whole space looked run down, tired and dated
Runa raised the sloped ceiling in the window area and turned it into a gable roof line. She then added sliding doors and triangle windows to follow the slope of the new roof line
Runa added as many recessed lights as possible
She installed a custom floating bar and sink.
Floating glass shelves were chosen to keep the area light and airy
A large flat screen TV was hung on one wall
Runa sourced a Green Goddess chandelier from Kathy Kuo in New York
Walnut floors and a long hair shag rug from Aztec Rug in Denver, CO were added for texture
